Statutory minimum wage rises to 9.35 euros in 2020

Statutory minimum wage rises to 9.35 euros in 2020

The statutory minimum wage will rise from 9.19 euros at present to 9.35 euros on 1 January 2020. This means that the lower wage limit will be adjusted in the second stage, as the federal government had previously decided at the suggestion of the Minimum Wage Commission.

The responsible Minimum Wage Commission had proposed in 2018 to increase the general statutory minimum wage in two stages. As a result, the federal government decided to raise the statutory minimum wage in line with the proposal. As a result, the minimum wage rose to 9.19 euros per hour on 1 January 2019. In the second stage, the minimum wage will rise further to 9.35 euros as of January 1, 2020.
